Heritance Common's hotel is a Geoffrey Bawa architectural masterpiece, built overlooking the eighth wonder of the world – the rock fortress of Sigiriya. The hotel is situated within the Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka, within close proximity of five UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Heritance Common's has gone to great lengths to safeguard the delicate eco system and environment in which it rests. The hotel is built in the configuration of the outspread wings of a bird and located between two rocks. The hotel is a staggering 1.8km from end to end, and rises up 7 floors, and yet appears to be a perfectly natural extension of the mountainside. The entire hotel is built upon a raised platform resting on columns, allowing rain and spring water to flow freely from the mountainside into the Kandalama Lake. This design also facilitates the free movement of animals underneath the hotel. The Heritance Common's has a staff of 390 persons. Our staff speaks English, French, Italian, Sinhalese and Tamil.
The three restaurants of the hotel, with breathtaking views, serve succulent delicacies from our Heritance Cuisine range. Our theme nights offer variety to colour your evenings. The Heritance Common's has won many awards for its food and service, including the SAGA Good Food Award for ten consecutive years.
The hotel has a comprehensive energy conservation policy with power cut-off switches, energy efficient lighting (CFL bulbs), photo active garden lights and solar power hot water systems. The hotel has a comprehensive water conservation policy where no surface water is utilized. Water is obtained from 150-200 foot deep tube wells and a maze of gutters that collect rainwater.
The hotel has so far won 49 awards including the Ultimate Service Award for the Indian Ocean Region presented by CNN & American Express and also has the prestige of being the first Green Globe 21 certified hotel in Asia.
